Six non alcoholic beers, one new category
Customers have been asking for these by name for a year, and now the non alcoholic beer category has the six that matter, every one in a 24 pack at $44.95 a case at the time of writing.
- Heineken 0.0, 11.2 ounce glass. The one people ask for first, and the one bars put on the menu.
- Stella Artois 0.0, 11.2 ounce glass. The restaurant table bottle.
- Corona Non Alcoholic, 12 ounce glass. The summer bottle, with the lime.
- Athletic Brewing Co. Upside Dawn Golden, 12 ounce cans. The craft brewer that built the category in the United States.
- Lagunitas IPNA, 12 ounce cans. A hop forward IPA taste without the alcohol.
- O’Doul’s Premium Golden, 12 ounce. The classic that has been in the category longer than anyone.
Where it goes: in the cooler next to the sparkling water, not next to the beer. The customer who wants it is the designated driver, the gym member, the office Friday fridge, and the growing number of people who simply drink less. Bars should put two on the menu. Markets should face all six on one shelf so the category is visible from the door. No alcohol tax and no age restriction on the sale, but read each label for the residual alcohol statement before you place it beside the kids’ drinks.
Just Ice Tea, organic brewed tea in glass
Three flavors, each a 12 pack of 16 ounce glass bottles, in the tea, coffee and matcha section:
- Peach Oolong. The one to face first. Fragrant, lightly sweet, reads as premium.
- Half Tea and Half Lemonade. The lunch counter flavor.
- Original Green Tea. Clean and unsweetened enough for the label reader.
Just Ice Tea is organic, brewed rather than concentrate, and Fair Trade sourced, which is exactly the label the sparkling water customer reads before buying. Purely Cane Soda Co. fountain syrups
If you run a bag in box fountain, this is the arrival to pay attention to. Purely Cane Soda Co. syrups are sweetened with real cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, they come in the standard five gallon bag in box, and they run on the equipment you already have. The line covers the whole fountain: cola, diet cola, root beer, Dr. Purely (the pepper style flavor), ginger brew, lemon lime, orange, pink lemonade, black cherry, boysenberry, Shirley Temple, snozzberry and tonic water. Find them in the fountain drinks category.
Why it matters: the fountain is the one place a restaurant could not say “real cane sugar” until now. With these boxes, the same fountain that pours the national brands can pour a cane sugar cola, and the menu can say so. The tonic water syrup in particular is a bar’s shortcut to a better gin and tonic from the gun. Boxes are priced per five gallons on each product page.

There is no mystery to it. Our drivers hear the same request at three stops in a week, the order desk sees the same product name typed into the search bar with no result, and a customer emails to ask when we will carry a bottle they saw somewhere else. When the same item shows up in all three places, it goes on the buy list, and when it clears the warehouse door it goes into the new items category. Non alcoholic beer is a perfect example: it was requested by bars, by markets near gyms and by office accounts for months before six brands arrived at once.
